“I allowed myself the great luxury of rapidly painting a deeply felt gesture on a large canvas, removing it from the easel, uncovering another canvas, lifting it to the easel, continuing painting the feeling begun in the first painting and taking the canvas down and grabbing another, over and over ten times without losing momentum. I was fascinated to observe the meditative effect of these paintings when seen together as one.”
